JOURDENESS Opens Biotechnology Park Combining International Certifications, Smart Manufacturing, and Sustainability

Taiwanese skincare brand JOURDENESS officially opened the JOURDENESS Castle Biotechnology Park in 2022. Representing an investment of approximately NT$3 billion and covering around 50,000 square meters, the facility integrates biotechnology research, smart manufacturing, internationally recognized quality standards, and sustainable architecture.

Combining Baroque and Renaissance architectural elements, the park brings together research facilities, an advanced manufacturing center, and visitor experiences in an environment that reflects the intersection of science, aesthetics, and sustainability.

Internationally Certified Smart Manufacturing

The manufacturing facility operates under internationally recognized standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 22716, the international standard for cosmetic good manufacturing practices. These standards guide quality management across raw material handling, production environments, manufacturing processes, and finished-product testing.

Pharmaceutical-grade cleanrooms maintain controlled temperature and humidity, while an eight-stage purification process provides medical-grade purified water to support manufacturing consistency and product quality.

Automated filling equipment, dynamic weight inspection, and digital production management further enhance manufacturing efficiency, product consistency, and process transparency.

Biotechnology Research and Quality Assurance

The park houses a biotechnology research center and a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory, supported by the group’s 12 biotechnology research and development laboratories. Research efforts focus on botanical extracts, patented ingredients, advanced formulations, and innovative skincare technologies.

Through ingredient analysis, formulation stability testing, and safety assessments, the research team translates scientific developments into skincare products. Products also undergo 18 quality control procedures, including testing for heavy metals, pesticide residues, microorganisms, and formulation stability.

Transparent production viewing areas allow visitors to observe the journey from research and development to manufacturing and quality inspection, strengthening confidence in the brand’s production standards.

LEED Gold and EEWH Certifications Highlight Sustainability

Following its opening, JOURDENESS Castle earned LEED Gold certification under the internationally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design system. The park also holds Taiwan’s EEWH green building certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainable architecture, energy efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Solar power, energy-efficient air conditioning, and water recycling systems help reduce resource consumption throughout the facility. Rooftop solar installations can supply up to 70% of the electricity required for manufacturing operations.
